Godot Platformer Template
A complete pixel-art 2D platformer for Godot 4.7, built so your AI agent can turn it into your game.
The demo above is the template as it ships, with nothing added or changed.
CodePlate templates are written for coding agents such as Claude Code. Each one comes with a brief for the agent (AGENTS.md), step-by-step recipes and checks the agent runs after every change. We write the templates with Claude Code too, and test each one by having a fresh agent turn it into a different game. The placeholder art, sound and music come from our own scripts, which draw and synthesize them in code; no image, audio or music generation models were used.
What's inside
- Movement: responsive running and jumping, with coyote time, jump buffering, variable jump height, apex hang, and corner and ledge correction. Double jump and wall jump are ready behind config switches. Every number is in one config file, in tiles and seconds.
- Levels: 8 levels in 2 worlds (meadow and cavern), each with coins, 3 hidden stars, checkpoints and a goal portal.
- Hazards: springs, moving platforms, crumbling blocks, one-way ledges, spikes and pits.
- Enemies: walkers to stomp, flyers, and spikers that you mustn't stomp.
- Screens: title, settings and credits (music and effects volume, fullscreen, reset progress), level select (one page per world), HUD with hearts, coins, stars and timer, pause, and results with best times. Progress is saved.
- Controls: keyboard, gamepad, and built-in touch buttons that appear only on touch screens.
- Look and sound: original pixel art, a pixel font, parallax backgrounds, 16 sound effects and 3 music loops, all free to ship.
- Levels are plain-text ASCII maps, the format AI agents edit best.
For your agent
- AGENTS.md: the brief, with 14 step-by-step recipes.
- A deterministic simulation with 55 headless checks, covering movement against config, collision, every actor, every screen, and real keyboard and touch input.
- A reach linter: can the player get to every star with the current jump settings?
- An autopilot bot: it finishes every level, and its recorded runs are re-played on every check run.
- Tools to see the game and its numbers: screenshots of any spot in a level, a feel report (jump distance, air time) and replay traces.
Get it
The template isn't sold on itch. The full source, docs and checks come with CodePlate's Plus and Max plans (Plus is $7.99 a month).

Use it with your agent
- Unzip this folder where your project will live.
- Install Godot 4.7.
- Open the folder with your agent and say something like:
This is a platformer template. Read AGENTS.md, then let's make it my game: a frog hopping through a swamp called "Lily Leap". My sprites are in ~/art/frog (32 px). Make jumping a bit floatier and turn on double jump.
License
You can use, modify and ship games made from this template, including commercially, with no attribution. Your license covers every version you downloaded while your CodePlate plan included it, forever. You can't resell or share the template itself. See the CodePlate Pro License. The placeholder assets are listed in assets.json and CREDITS.md.
Pro templates come with the CodePlate Pro License, which needs no credit in what you ship; the free templates' Free License asks for the credit "Built with CodePlate (codeplate.io)".
